She is also the author of the novels No Direction Home and The God of War, which is forthcoming. Before working in fiction, she directed feature films. "Old Enough", an essay about shooting her first film, appeared in the June 11th & 18th 2007 Summer Fiction Issue of The New Yorker.
Paul Theroux is the author of many books, including the novels Picture Palace and The Mosquito Coast; the travel narratives The Great Railway Bazaar, The Old Patagonian Express, and Dark Star Safari; and the memoir Sir Vidia's Shadow, about his relationship with V. S. Naipaul. The Elephanta Suite: Three Novellas was released in September 2007. He has contributed both fact and fiction pieces to The New Yorker; "The Golden Man", about life under dictatorship in Turkmenistan, appeared in the May 28th 2007 issue.
