Mark Strand is a much-lauded artist whose awards include the Pulitzer Prize for his 1998 book Blizzard of One, a MacArthur "genius" grant, and the Bollingen Prize. He has also served as Poet Laureate and as a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. He teaches in the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.
